Normative duration plus extra time
In order to preserve your study right, you must enroll as attending or absent every academic year.
You only have a right to participate in studies and exams, as well as get grades in your study register if you are enrolled as attending. The duration of the study right starts from the beginning of the month when the student accepted the study place.
Normative durations of degree programs
In the Universities of Applied Sciences Act and LAB Degree Regulations normative durations of degree programs are defined as followed:
- Bachelor’s degree of University of Applied Sciences, scope 210 ECTS: 3,5 years
- Bachelor’s degree of University of Applied Sciences, scope 240 ECTS: 4 years
- Master’s degree of UAS, scope 60 ECTS: 1 - 2 years
- Master’s degree of UAS, scope 90 ECTS: 1,5 - 2,5 years
The duration of the study right
Students who are unable to complete their degree within the normative duration:
- Degree students may continue their studies for one more year (+1 year)
- Master's degree students may continue their studies for one semester (spring or autumn semester)
Degree students need to make a one-year study plan scheduling all the missing courses from your degree. Master students can discuss their future plans with their tutor teacher, if necessary.
It is not required for a student to pay 50€ handling fee.
Absence during the studies
The maximum duration of absence not included in the study time is two semesters. Read more about suspending your studies.
The study time of transfer student
According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act 31§ the right of a transfer student to complete the studies is determined by the degree to which the transfer student was accepted. The completion time of the degree includes periods of presences and absences used by a student during the study right obtained through transfer.
