Student card is the official ID of a student. When you become a member of KOE you get a student card and all its benefits and discounts locally.

If you are in higher education, you are eligible for discounted meals at participating student restaurants. Meals for university students are supported with a meal subsidy paid by KELA. The support gives students the opportunity to enjoy a versatile meal that promotes health, study ability and endurance at a reasonable student price. So an affordable lunch on campus is a daily student benefit.

NB! Temporary VR student discount certificates are no longer valid after 31 December 2022.
As of 1 Jan 2023, VR will check your eligibility for the student discount by asking you to provide a student card. To obtain a student card, contact your student association (KOE).

The student discount for a season ticket is 30% of the price of an adult season ticket. The discounts are valid for the entire LSL service area. There is no student discount for single and mobile tickets.

Full-time students can get a student discount on personal season and value tickets in Lappeenranta public transport, regardless of their municipality of residence. Student status must be updated at the customer service point at the beginning of the academic year or semester. A valid student card or student certificate is sufficient proof of student status.
If you live permanently in the HSL area and you are a full-time student, you can buy season tickets at a 45% discount using the HSL app. Student discount is only be available on season tickets purchased using the HSL app. You can activate the discount yourself on the HSL app when your enrollment information has been updated in the My StudyInfo service.
In some exceptional cases (e.g. students who do not have a Finnish personal identity code), the discount entitlement is updated on the HSL card at a service point and then you need HSL discount ticket application. Read more about HSL student discount here.
NB! Matkahuolto’s own student card has been discontinued on 30 September 2022.
The student discount can be obtained by showing a student identity card with the Matkahuolto logo printed on it. More information from here
