Peer tutors support new students by sharing their experiences, knowledge and expertise. In particular, peer tutors provide valuable guidance at the beginning of studies when many students are new to the UAS and to the city. They introduce you to the UAS and its learning environments and help you with questions concerning studies and student life. The peer tutors organize activities to help students to get to know each other and coordinate channels of communication within the student group.
The Tutoring Coordinators of LAB University of Applied Sciences train tutors together with Student Union KOE's Tutor Executives. In their trainings tutors learn about topics such as the importance of tutoring, group building, communication skills and knowledge of the school and its study tools. Tutors cooperate with tutor teachers and other staff members. Read more: KOE > Services > Tutoring

Tutoring theme weeks
These theme weeks are organized in collaboration with LAB, LUT, KOE and LTKY.
The order of the theme weeks can be changed according to the needs of the group, study programmes and campuses.
Each tutor group goes through themes according to a weekly plan during the first study period.
Contact teaching programs meet weekly on campus. Other programs meet online.
Tutor informs their group of a weekly meeting time well in advance.
Weekly plan is to ensure that every newcomer gets all the important information about studying, and adapts to student life and daily life Finland.
Important role of the tutor is to encourage and support freshers grouping. This is something to remember each theme week.
