LUT & LAB Desktop (virtual remote desktops)

From the LUT & LAB Desktop portal you can access and use many LUT & LAB computer programs remotely, even using your home computer. Some programs can be run straight from the portal, however due to technical or licensing limitations most of the programs are installed on virtualized Windows desktops, which you need to connect to before being able to use the programs.

Please note, that there are a limited number of desktops available and some programs might have a limited number of licenses. Due to these limitations, there might arise situations where desktops or programs are simply not available. Some programs might also be available only on campus premises due to licensing restrictions. These programs you can access, for example, using the computer classrooms or the computers in the library.

It is recommended to install the Citrix Workspace application and to use the remote resources with the application

The Citrix Workspace app is available for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android and Chrome OS devices.
The Citrix Workspace app is automatically installed on the classroom computers.

Installing the Citrix Workspace app

When using the Citrix Workspace app you can use your local printer and have access to your local computer disk drives and USB flash drives.
Please make sure you have saved any documents or other work as your computer might restart automatically after the installation.
The Citrix Workspace app is available for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android and Chrome OS devices.

For your personal computer or other compatible device, the Citrix Workspace app can be downloaded and installed from the link below:

Using LUT & LAB Desktop with the Citrix Workspace app

Install and open the Citrix Workspace app
When prompted, enter the gateway address: "desktop.lut.fi" and then press "Continue":
Enter your email address into the “Sign in” window:
After entering your email address and clicking “Next” you will be prompted to enter your password and click “Sign in”:
Next you must accept Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) request:
After successful authentication you will be redirected to the LUT & LAB Desktop portal, where you can launch applications and virtual desktops:

Please sign out from virtual desktops instead of closing the Workspace app window and close the apps after you have finished using them. By signing out you ensure that you will instantly free the used desktops and software licenses for the next user.

Using LUT & LAB Desktop via a web browser and without the Citrix Workspace app

Log in to the LUT & LAB Desktop portal at the address: desktop.lut.fi
Enter your email address into the “Sign in” window:
After entering your email address and clicking “Next” you will be prompted to enter your password and click “Sign in”:
Next you must accept Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) request:
After successful authentication you will be redirected to the LUT & LAB Desktop portal, where you can launch applications and virtual desktops:
