Membership
Membership is 30 €/semester. Get your membership from the LUT Shop (no login required) and remember to read the information about how to gain access to the gym with a mobile key.
Membership includes usage of Gym, Ball games and Group exercise classes. Autumn semester pass is valid until end of January and Spring semester pass until end of August.
By purchasing the membership you will approve following MOVEO term of service.
Note! MOVEO offers remote and break exercise classes with Zoom. Classes are open and free of charge for all students. More information on MOVEO main page.
Gym
There is a gym at Niemi campus (Niemenkatu 73). The gym has a wide selection of equipment for weight- and cardio training. Gym is open every day 6.00-22.30 (*excluding reservations for teaching). You`ll need to be out of the building before 23.00 when the alarms go on.
After purchasing a membership, you will receive a mobile key activation code by email within 1-3 business days. The mobile key will allow you to access the gym from the B2 door during opening hours. B2 door is located from campus path on the right side. Please note that membership is personal. In case of problems with the mobile key, you can contact the lobby service of the Niemi campus (info@lahdentiedepuisto.fi).
*Gym is reserved for teaching occasionally between 8 am to 6 pm. Reservations are being informed at the gym door and at our social media accounts @moveolahti.
Individual gym instruction
If you need help to start exercising in the gym, you can book gym instruction. Instructor designs a personal gym program for you. You don't have to be a member of MOVEO to book an appointment, the gym instruction is available to all LUT and LAB students. You can book an appointment for gym instruction by sending an email to moveo@lut.fi.
Group exercises are held at Niemi campus (Niemenkatu 73) Group exercise space (NIE_73B105). Attending to group exercise classes requires always a booking in advance at our booking system and there is limited amount of places with each class. Only MOVEO members can attend. You can find group exercise class descriptions in the booking system.
Spring group exercise classes will start on 13.1.2025 and run until 9.5.2025. Notice! Some classes may begin an hour later. Those classes are shown in the booking system with the new starting time.

Group exercise description
HIIT
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is an intense class! The pace is high, your heart rate is high, and rest periods are short. The class consists mostly of various bodyweight movements. If you like pushing yourself, this is the class for you! The HIIT workout lasts for 45 minutes including a short warm up. You can also warm up on your own before the class. Body Care
The body care class helps to recover, increase mobility and flexibility, and improve body control. The class also utilizes various equipment, for example a foam roll, a ball and a stick. Body Care class is suitable for everyone. We also recommend the class as a restorative exercise for those who exercise a lot. Class instructors: Enni / Hannes
Kettlebell
In the kettlebell class, we do versatile movements with the kettlebell. We build strength, and we don't spare a sweat! You`ll get kettlebell on the class. Exercise is efficient and safe. Class instructors: Henna / Eevi
Mobility
The mobility class consists of a warm-up, mobility, strength and longer stretches. In the warm-up section, the muscles are warmed up and lighter dynamic mobility movements are performed. In the mobility and strength section, mobility is also practised with strength-building mobility movements. The longer stretches section consists of longer, relaxed stretches. The relaxed mobility class is suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. We also recommend this class as a restorative exercise for those who exercise a lot. Class instructor: Henna / Eevi
Commercial Dance
The class will be organised at D-Dance's facilities, Askonkatu 9 E.
Commercial is a so-called commercial dance style that mixes techniques from many different genres, such as street dance and its subgenres, modern jazz dance and show dance, depending on the teacher's own dance background and style. Commercials make extensive use of musicality and accents, and inspiration for choreography is drawn from music videos, commercials and various TV productions. In Commercial classes, in addition to choreography, the students practice performance, expression and attitude. Class instructor: Diana
MOVEOAerobics
Looking to get fit and have fun? Join our MOVEOAerobics class! It’s the perfect way to sweat it out to great music and unwind after a long day. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, our class suits all levels. This class is only in English. Class instructor: Olga
Shuffle Dance
Get your groove on with our Shuffle Dance Classes! Join our Shuffle Dance Classes and get ready to shuffle like a pro!
Shake off the stress of exams and assignments with our energetic and fun-filled dance sessions. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of shuffle dance, teaching you the coolest moves and techniques that will make you the life of any party! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some dance experience, our classes are designed to cater to all skill levels. So, don't worry if you've never shuffled before – we've got you covered! Fitness boxing
The class will be held at the Lahti Kamppailulajikeskus, Sammonkatu 6.
In collaboration with local Boxing Lahden Kamppailulajikeskus, boxing classes offer various exercise themes and effective workouts! Doesn't matter whether you're a beginner or an experienced striker, because all exercises are expertly planned and instructed - all you need is a water bottle and indoor training shoes! In the class, exercises are done together with a partner. You can also come to class without a partner. Class instructor: Risto
Pilates
Pilates is a versatile way to develop strength and mobility. The movements are mainly done on the floor and calmly, focusing on breathing. Pilates is suitable for people of all levels. Class instructor: Riitta
Yin Yoga
At Yin yoga class we`ll make movements that relax your mind and body and enhance your mobility. Yin yoga suits for all levels trainers. Class instructor: Riitta
Weightlifting: Technique
Technique class 45 min includes:
-A versatile warm-up, which opens up the range of motion required in lifting (snatch & clean and jerk) and activates the muscles we need in olylifts.
-Practice of olympic weightlifting technique
-Beginners get special attention in this class
-For an experienced olylifter, this class acts as warm-up.
Weightlifting: Heavy lifts
Heavy lifts class 45 min includes:
-Only heavy lifts (according to your level).
-In this class, beginners adds load to the movements they've learned in the technique class.
-There is no warm-up at the beginning of this class, so if you do not participate in the technique class, you should come and do your own warm-up 15-30 minutes before the class starts.
-If you have practised olylifts less than one year, remember to participate to technique class always before this class.

CrossFit
The class will be held at CrossFit Lahti's facilities in Saksala (Hiojankatu 5).
CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that incorporates functional movements, workouts are constantly varied, and executed at a high intensity. CrossFit prepares each individual for the unknown and the unknowable, and develops your overall fitness in 10 General Physical Skills. (CrossFit Lahti 2024) You can easily get there by car or by bus number 6 from the city centre. Class instructor: Elle
Salsa, first steps
This class is held on Nicks Dancing facilities, Vesijärvenkatu 30.
Want to learn to dance the couple dance that is danced all over the world? Salsa has conquered every continent and major city. The dance has its roots in Latin America. Join us for an exciting and fun class where you will learn to dance salsa from the very beginning. You don't need a previous dance background. In this class, we will learn to move to the rhythm of salsa, and perform a partner dance with a partner. This class is perfect for those who have never danced before. Classes are slow paced and progress at a leisurely pace. We will change partners in class, so you don't need a own partner to come to class. MOVEO Lahti has shifts for ball games in the Lahti municipal sports facilities. Ball games are available for MOVEO members only. Ballgame calendar is below. Before participating in the ball games, join the Whatsapp group. There you will get all the necessary info about ball game shift. We will inform changes about the ball game shifts in Whatsapp groups and on Instagram and Facebook. You can also contact ball game responsible persons if you have any questions about ball game shifts. (Note! There is no Whatsapp group for Tennis and Padel, bookings are made through the Avoinna24 system.
Ball shifts start in week 1 or 2, you will get more details from Whatsapp-groups (Tennis and Padel start at week 2).

Tennis and Padel
Padel and Tennis must always be booked through the Avoinna24-system! Games are played between the first players who book a spot.
Tennis and Padel shifts for MOVEO members are held at the Janus-Arena (Heinlammintie 64). Some padel rackets and balls can be borrowed from the arena, but the rackets are in public use, so the availability of equipment cannot be guaranteed. The use of your own equipment is therefore recommended. There is no equipment available for tennis, so the use of your own equipment is mandatory. Tennis court is 2.
A valid MOVEO membership is required to participate in the shift. Memberships are checked regularly, and access to MOVEO services may be denied if you use services without membership. Note! There is no instructor for tennis or padel, games are played independently.
The break exercise is organized during the semester in Zoom. You can find more detailed instructions on break exercise on the MOVEO homepage.
In the A-wing first floor, near café Lamkooma there are ping pong and pool tables at the gaming area.
There is an break exercise area at the Mukkulankatu 2nd floor C-hallway for all students and staff.

Various sports equipment can be borrowed from the Student Union KOE office on the first floor on the Mukkula campus. You don't have to be a member of MOVEO, the borrowed equipment is free of charge for all LUT and LAB students. The maximum borrowing time is 1 week.
Equipment available for borrowing: padel and tennis rackets, skates, touring skates, snowshoes, basketballs and frisbeegolf discs.
At the beginning of their studies, a student aiming for sports should contact the contact person Elle Puntanen (Lahti) for athletes at the LAB University of Applied Sciences as well as the sports academy in their area as soon as possible. Through sports academies, it is possible to get various support services. More information LAB for athletes -page.
The cooperative of physical therapist students Motions offers wellbeing service at the Mukkula and Niemi Campus.

Parry Ry is a sports club for students of LUT University and LAB University of Applied Sciences. Parry Ry offers sports activities for students of all levels. Parru Ry Lappeenranta includes several different sports, such as ice hockey, ice skating and futsal. For more information, contact the sports coordinator or the Parru Ry board. Parru is developing its activities in Lahti. If you are interested in a sports activity in Lahti, please contact Parru or MOVEO.

The purpose of the safer space rules is to help prevent and deal with inappropriate behavior such as harassment, bullying and discrimination in MOVEO sport services. By treating others with respect, we create an equal and collaborative atmosphere in higher education sports and wellbeing services. The contact persons for these issues are the harassment contact persons of the LTKY and KOE.
1) We respect other users
- We give everyone the peace to training.
- We use respectful language.
- We give everyone the opportunity to participate.
- We advise and comment on another's exercise only if asked to.
- We also act respectfully on social media.
2) We give everyone their own space
- We do not touch without permission.
- We do not comment on others' bodies or appearance.
- We do not disturb by staring.
- We ask permission to film or record.
3) We treat each other as equals
- We cannot make assumptions about someone's experiences, thoughts, life situation, sexuality, gender, nationality, culture, language, religion, values, health or ability based on their appearance, speech or other behavior.
- We look critically at the assumptions we make about other people and treat them only as assumptions - not facts.
4) We learn from our mistakes
- We take responsibility for our mistakes by apologizing and changing our behavior. We all make mistakes sometimes and may also break the safer space rules.
- We understand that everyone is right to their own individual limits. People react differently to different behavior.
5) We take action against inappropriate behaviour
- We take action to stop the inappropriate behavior we see by helping the person who is being affected by it.
- We can also calmly interrupt the situation by saying to the person, for example, "What you are saying/doing seems offensive." or by questioning his or her behavior, for example by asking a question: "Why are you doing that?"
- We make sure that the victim is not left alone with the situation.
- We will report the incident to staff or the harassment contact person.
- In situations where there is a risk to physical safety, we will call for further help, for example by calling 112.
6) In case you are the victim of inappropriate behaviour:
- You have the right to ask the person to stop their inappropriate behavior.
- Leave the situation if you want to, everyone has the right to do so.
- If you are able, ask for help from other users, MOVEO staff or university harassment contact persons.
