Double degree

Why not do two degrees for the price of one?

LAB offers double degree programmes in five study fields. A double degree (DD) means that usually on your 3rd year of studies you will head to one of our partner universities and spend the whole academic year studying there. In general, it does not differ much from a doing “normal” exchange for two semesters. In most cases you will write your thesis at the exchange destination but not in all partner universities though. At the time of graduation, you will get a bachelor’s diploma from both universities. First you graduate from LAB and after that you may apply for the graduation from the partner university you have spent one year. There are no master level DD programmes available currently.

Interested? Great!

There are existing DD programmes in International Business, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Mechanical Engineering,  Wood Technology and Information Communication Technology. You can browse through the option at the LAB Mobility-Online portal which covers all the exchange possibilities including DD programmes, too. Add the desired study field and add "Double Degree" as a programme.  Click on the Agreement -icon and then the (i) icon to see more details of the programmes, eg. if there are some prerequisites you need to have. In most cases you need to have done 120 ECTS of studies and 30 ECTS placement before the start of the DD-program (in some programmes the ECTS requirement might be more than that). Note that you do not need to meet these criteria at the time of application but only when you start the programme, so you can apply even if you haven’t completed enough credits yet.

How to apply? Just follow the instructions of the exchange studies and remember to complete "Double Degree application" during the normal exchange application period. Studies for DD programmes usually start in autumn, so you need to apply in the January – February application round.
