Completing the studies if an extension is not granted
If you do not meet the criteria for an extension and/or graduating within the requested extension period is not realistic, but you still wish to complete your studies, please contact a study counselor: LAB.opinto-ohjaajat@lab.fi.
A study counselor can transfer you to the Open University of Applied Sciences to complement your studies under guidance for a maximum period of one year.
The right to complement your studies via the Open University of Applied Sciences is subject to a fee (EUR 100 per semester) and can be granted only once.
If, at the end of the one-year completion period, you meet the criteria for an extension, you may re-apply for an extension to your original degree studies.
If you have already used the maximum amount of extension time (3 semesters) and have completed your studies via the Open University of Applied Sciences, you can still apply to have your degree right to study restored for the purpose of graduation.
Restoration of the degree studies for graduation
After completing the missing studies, the student may apply to have their degree study right restored for the purpose of graduation. However, the right to study cannot be restored if the student has previously voluntarily renounced their right to study or accepted another right to study at the same or a lower level. Restoration is also not possible if the student has previously been granted more than three semesters of extension time.
