During the orientation there will be various events that support the beginning of your studies at LAB University of Applied Sciences and provide valuable information. Attendance is voluntary but highly recommended.
Student tutors at LAB University of Applied Sciences are organizing the Kick Start Event so that new students can get to know each other and possibly make new friends even before orientation.
There will be a opportunity to grill at the event, so feel free to bring your own food to grill if you’d like.

Location: The inner courtyard of the Lahti LAB University of Applied Sciences campus, Mukkulankatu 19
Directions: You can access the inner courtyard by taking the path on the left side of LAB’s main entrance, which runs between the campus building and the parking lot. The path goes behind the building, where you’ll find access to the inner courtyard. The campus is easily accessible by bus, and on weekends you can park your car for free in the campus’s P2 or P3 parking lots.
The Student’s Welcome Fair will take place on Friday 28 August 2026 from 10.00 to 13.00 at the Mukkula (Lahti) campus. Students have the opportunity to attend the fair on their own during its opening hours. The event is a fair-style event for our new starting bachelor's, master’s and exchange students in Finnish and international programmes. Presenters at the fair will include in-house staff and staff from our support services to present and offer their services to our students. Local operators and businesses will also be presenting their services.

Location: Parkinmäki Beach, near the Lappeenranta campus of LAB University of Applied Sciences
Directions: The event will be held at the beach near the campus, which is easily accessible on foot via the nature trail from the campus. You can either take the bus or drive to the campus. On weekends, you can park for free in the campus’s P4 parking lot.

Time: Busses leave 13/13.30-14.30. The event starts at 15 in the city centre.
Place: Lappeenranta City Hall (Villimiehenkatu 1, 53100 Lappeenranta).
Buses leave in front of the LUT main entrance between 13.30 pm and 14.30 pm. The event will be organized from 14.30 pm to 16 pm in Lappeenranta City Hall. There is no arranged transportation back to the university, but attendees will receive a bus ticket for local bus to get back to the university.

We will serve you with a surprise programme, student offers and tips on things to do in Lappeenranta. Event is held in English. You are welcome to attend the event!

Housing Clinic for Newcomers (LUT & LAB) - Bring Your Own Device!
For all master’s & bachelor’s students in Finnish and international programmes and for exchange students (LUT & LAB)

LUT organizes a housing clinic together with LOAS, Lappeenrannan Asuntopalvelu and MITRA in room 7339 (LUT University).
The aim of the clinic is to help students without permanent housing to get more information about their housing situation and about housing possibilities. New students can possibly find a roommate at the clinic to apply for an apartment together.
Participating in the housing clinic doesn’t necessarily get the student an apartment but helps to figure out possible solutions and clear out misconceptions about the housing situation in Lappeenranta.
