Green travel

Most students travel to their exchange destinations by plane, even if the destination is accessible by more sustainable means of transportation. The CO2 emissions of trips could be reduced by 75 % if travelled by train.

Thus, we encourage you to avoid flying, and use more sustainable transportation instead. If you go on an exchange within the Erasmus+ programme, you can apply for funding for additional travel days, and you'll get a fixed green travel grant on top of the exchange grant. Read more below. For now, the green travel grant is not awarded other than Erasmus+ exchanges.

Maybe you have heard of the concept of "slow travel" before. It also offers another perspective on travelling and you can think what you might gain by travelling slower and by land. You can get to know many different locations and cultures on your way and get to see many places you wouldn’t otherwise travel to.
