Note: These instructions do NOT apply to the following students:

  • Students who have registered for the Institute of Design's entrance exam
  • Students enrolled in the Master’s entrance exam courses


Welcome to the Open UAS course!

1. LAB University of Applied Sciences campuses

In the course description you can see on which campus the course will be held: online campus, Lahti campus or Lappeenranta campus.

2. Get a LUT Network ID (LAB Student ID)

Note 1) The following students do NOT activate their LUT accounts:

  • Students who have registered for the Institute of Design's entrance exam
  • Students enrolled in the Master’s entrance exam courses

Note 2) LUT Open University students and LUT and LAB staff must activate their LAB Student account. If you are a LUT Continuing Education student, please see the special instructions below.

Instructions for activating LUT account

Student IT Support Services will contact each new student via email whenever the student’s LUT account is ready to be activated. We will send the email to your personal email address from address student.ithelpdesk@lut.fi. The message contains detailed instructions for LUT account activation.

If you have a Finnish ID number and Finnish network banking credentials or Finnish mobile ID, you can activate your LUT account at https://id.lut.fi/

3. LAB Student email

Please use your LAB Student email address, which you will get after activating your LUT account (LAB student account). Teachers will only use students' LAB email addresses when communicating about courses.

4. Learning Management System

The LAB University of Applied Sciences mainly uses the learning management system Moodle.

Some courses use the LAB MOOC course platform.

In the course description you can see which e-learning platform is used for the course. The course platform is open during the course. Please note the start and end date of the course!
