If you are interested in a student exchange period at LAB University of Applied Sciences, please contact your home institution's international office. You can be considered as an exchange student if there is a student exchange agreement between your home institution and LAB University of Applied Sciences. The home institution selects the candidates for student exchange. After you have been selected by your home institution to be a candidate for student exchange and your home institution has nominated you, you can apply to LAB as an exchange student.
If your home institution does not have an exchange agreement with LAB University of Applied Sciences, you can come to LAB as a freemover exchange student. In this case a nomination is not required.
The freemover exchange students are subject to a fee of 3000 euros/semester. Please note that the fee is reviewed annually and may be subject to change. The instructions on how to pay the fee are sent to accepted freemover exchange students along with the acceptance letter.
If you want to apply as a freemover exchange student, please fill out the Application form below. After submitting the form, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register to LAB Mobility-Online. After registering, you can log in to LAB Mobility-Online and upload the required attachments to your application. More information about application deadlines and required documents can be found further down on this page.

All exchange students apply to LAB University of Applied Sciences on the online application system, and all correspondence will be conducted via email. Please note that a valid and operational email address is essential for your application.

Application Documents
After your home institution has nominated you, you will get an email invitation to register to our Mobility-Online system and fill in your application. After completing your application, upload the following documents to your account in LAB Mobility-Online:
A photo of yourself (max. 500 pixel x 500 pixel)
Clear photo of the ID page of your passport, or a photo of your European ID card, if you are an EU citizen.
You are expected to have sufficient skills in English language to be able to study at LAB. If English is not your native language, a document proving your knowledge of English is required. The expect English level is B2 (CEFR level). NOTE! The students whose native is English, can attach a free-form document stating that the student's mother tongue is English.
Approved language tests and specific requirements:
A certificate/document from your home institution (e.g. a teacher, language center or the International Office) in English stating that you have B2 level competence of English.

Proof of completing an upper secondary degree or at least Bachelor/Master degree in English at an institution located in the following countries: an EU or EEA country, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, or the United States. The official document must state that English was the language of instructions; if the language is not specified or multiple languages are listed, at least half of the credits must have been completed in English.
Transcript of Records in English (certificate of the courses you have completed in the home institution)
Please choose the courses for your Learning Agreement from the list of your study field (can be found from "Studies" section). Note that exchange students are expected to complete 30 ECTS credits during the semester.
Erasmus+ students: Erasmus+ students' Learning Agreements are processed in Erasmus without papers network as data transfer. Erasmus+ students should therefore create the Learning Agreement according to the instructions from their home institution in the system the home institution is using.
Non-Erasmus student: Non-Erasmus students should create a Learning Agreement in LAB Mobility-Online according to the instructions available on the platform.
Institute of Design and Fine Arts requires a portfolio as an application document. Please read through the additional portfolio instructions before preparing your portfolio:
Think how to stand out from the crowd by presenting your best work in the best light. Be brave and unique. You should also add a motivation letter in your portfolio (max. 1 page). Tell about yourself briefly. Why do you want to study Design? What can you do? Why are you applying to this Department? What are your plans after studying? Tell briefly about your previous education and work experience or hobbies, how they have helped you to learn?
