LUT-VDI remote access service (remote desktop)

LUT-VDI Service (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) allows you to use LUT & LAB Universities computer classroom programs remotely, for example from your home computer. Some programs work directly from the portal, but some require starting a virtualized Windows desktop.

Please note that there are limited desktops and software licenses available, so they may not always be accessible. For this reason, you must also remember to log out of the desktop when you are done using it. Some programs can only be used on campus, such as in computer classrooms or library computers.

Troubleshooting

Black screen with LUT-VDI virtual desktop

When you log in to a virtual desktop but you don't see the desktop icons, only the black screen, try these:

Change the size of the Horizon Client window from "full screen" to "window" mode, or vice versa. That should bring your desktop back to normal.
The problem is related to an older version of the VMware Horizon Client application, so the recommended option is to update the "VMware Horizon Client" to the most recent version of Omnissa Horizon Client. You can download it here.
