5.5.2022: Student IT Support Services is open the whole summer!

You can reach Student IT Support Services by email throughout the summer. Our phone is closed in May, June and July. The Student IT Service Desk in Lappeenranta and a new Student IT Service Desk in Lahti will open after mid-August.

If you wish to have service at the Student IT Service Desk in Lappeenranta before mid-August, please contact us well in advance by email, and let's agree a time when we come to the IT service desk.

4.4.2022: Student IT Service Desk closed until the end of spring semester

We focus to serve customers via the electronic channels for the rest of the spring. We have noticed that there are not so many students at the campus, so we will keep the Student IT Service Desk closed until the end of the 2022 spring semester. However, you will reach Student IT Support Services via email and phone normally Mon-Fri 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Student IT Service Desk will open again in mid-August. However, if you want service at the Student IT Service Desk before mid-August, please contact us well in advance by email, and let's agree a time when we come to the IT Service Desk.

29.3.2022: Problems in mobile printing

Mobile printing is not working currently. If you try to print by sending files as an email attachment to print@lut.fi or print@lab.fi, these files will not appear on the printers' printing list at this time. LUT IT Services will fix this.

However, you can print via driver printing normally. Printer drivers are installed on computers at campus (computer classrooms, library etc.). First, log on to a campus computer and send the files you want to print to the printing server (File -> Print -> and select printer \\rps.win.lut.fi\ SecurePrint). Then, log in to any printer and you will see the files in the list of files to print in exactly the same way as you see files sent to the printing server as mobile printing (=via email).

Update 29 March at 16:00: The issue has been fixed and mobile printing is working again. Files sent to the printing server via email now appear on printers (first log in normally to the printer with your LUT account) and they are printable for 72 hours. After that, the files will disappear form the server.

NOTE! Only IT Service Desk is closed. Student IT Support Services still serves as normal through phone and email Mon-Fri at 10-14.

20.1.2022: Student IT Service Desk is closed until March 6th

Due to LUT Universities’ distance learning recommendation and COVID-19 situation: Student IT Service Desk is closed until March 6th, 2022.

NOTE! Only IT Service Desk is closed. Student IT Support Services still serves as normal through phone and email Mon-Fri at 10-14.

All LUT’s and LAB’s staff LUT account issues are managed through the staff helpdesk while the Student IT Service Desk is closed.

 

News 2021

29.11.2021: Exceptional opening hours (December 2021, January 2022)

On Independence Day (Mon 6 December), Christmas Eve (Fri 24 December) and Epiphany (Thu 6 January) Student IT Support Services (=email, phone, IT Service Desk) are closed.

From Mon 20 December till Fri 31 December, the Student IT Service Desk and phone are closed. However, we serve normally via email Mon-Fri at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

During the orientation week, the Student IT Service Desk is open exceptionally also on Monday and Wednesday, i.e. the IT Service Desk is open on Mon 3 January, Tue 4 January and Wed 5 January at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

From January 7, 2022, we will again serve normally, on Mon-Fri at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. via phone and email. In addition, the IT Service Desk is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 20.10.2021: The EDUROAM network certificate will be renewed on October 20, 2021 at 16:00 pm. Actions is needed

The Eduroam network certificate will be renewed on Wed 20 October 2021 at 16:00 pm. Because the new certificate is from a different issuer (CA), some terminals will no longer agree to join the eduroam network with the current certificate.

Student devices and staff mobile devices:
As a fix, the Eduroam network is removed (forget selection) from the device settings and add again as a new network. The most recommended way is to install a new eduroam network at https://cat.eduroam.org (select the correct organization), which will automatically configure the device settings. Be sure to use your school email address as your username.

 16.6.2021: LUT Universities' printing system changed on June 1st, 2021

From Tuesday, June 1st, send your files to the print queue ("printer") called Secure Print

Canon has been selected as the new supplier to the printing system of LUT Universities. The old Ricoh and Toshiba network printers will be in use until May 31st, 2021, after which they will go out of service. The new Canon equipment will be available from June 1st, 2021. If a new device has not been installed in place of one of the old printers yet 1.6., then the old device can be used as long until the installation of the new device is completed.

The new LUT Universities' online printing system is similar to the existing LUT and LAB printing systems. In a network printing system, files to be printed are not sent directly to a particular printer but are sent to the printer server in a print queue, then they can be printed on the printer you want.

The new print queue was added to LUT Universities' Windows PCs on May 31, 2021.

Who does the change apply to?
The change applies to all LAB and LUT students and staff at the Lappeenranta and Lahti campuses.

Additional information and instructions will be updated to LUT's Intra. Later in the summer, eLAB print page will also be updated.

 6.5.2021: The Skype for Business service will end on June 1, 2021 and will be replaced by Microsoft Teams only

Microsoft will discontinue Skype for Business on July 31, 2021, so LAB moves forward to use only the Microsoft Teams service. Microsoft Teams includes chat and meeting functionalities and more.

Until now, users have been able to use these two services in side by side, but since 1.6, logging in with the Skype for Business client will transfer the user to Microsoft Teams. If you have not used Skype for Business, you may ignore this notice. Skype for Business user contact lists will not be transferred to Teams, but meetings already made after 1.6 will automatically change to Teams meetings.

In May, Skype for Business users will be reminded to switch to using the Teams service when logging in to the SfB program.

 23.2.2021: Old Moodles will be closed forever on the 31st of May 2021

Dear Student, old Moodles will be closed forever on the 31st of May 2021. If you have for example tasks in the old Saimia Moodle or Reppu (LAMK), which you wish to save, please do it soon.

 16.2.2021: IT-service use policies are updated

LUT Universities IT-service use policies are updated. Use policies are shared with both LUT-University and LAB University of Applied Sciences.

Use policies are handled and approved in LUT and LAB human resource committee’s in December 2020.
