MASK RECOMMENDATION

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare eased its national mask recommendations just before Easter.

In addition, the Päijät-Häme region no longer has regional mask recommendations imposed by authorities. In South Karelia, however, authorities strongly advise wearing masks at least until the end of April due to the large number of patients hospitalised. For these reasons, the mask recommendations of LUT and LAB will as of 21 April depend on the region and campus.

Masks on the Lahti campus

On the Lahti campus, masks indoors are generally no longer required. For occupational safety reasons, however, masks should still be worn in campus laboratories, exams and practical contact teaching where safe distances cannot be maintained.

Please continue wearing a mask if your situation requires (you have been exposed to COVID-19 but have no symptoms, you have allergies, etc.). Masks will still be available on campus for staff and students.

Masks on the Lappeenranta campus and in the Kouvola and Mikkeli regional units

On the Lappeenranta campus, masks indoors are generally no longer required. For occupational safety reasons, masks should still be worn in campus laboratories, exams and practical contact teaching where safe distances cannot be maintained.

Please continue wearing a mask if your situation requires (you have been exposed to COVID-19 but have no symptoms, you have allergies, etc.). Masks will still be available on campus for staff and students.

However, masks are still recommended in the Kouvola area. Remember to wear a mask in the Kouvola unit whenever you are not alone.
